Experiencing ACIM

Image
I became active on Facebook simultaneously with the commencement of this blog. With some caution, I joined two Facebook groups where The Course in Miracles is discussed. I do not recommend this for new students. Devotees of The Course are very passionate, and all do not agree. Caveat; After adopting the methods and discipline of ACIM; every "judgement" made must be evaluated, because the ego is always involved. The text itself advises against interpretation. Once again because the ego and perception are involved. And can be trusted to give bad advice. Knowing is not open to interpretation. ²You may try to “interpret” meaning, but this is always open to error because it refers to the perception of meaning. ( ACIM, T-3.V.5:1-2 ) I am promoting a different method.  Like any similar literary work, its devotees develop favorite passages. I have shared mine here. However, many times I open the book randomly and just begin reading, as I did today.  And I was affected emotio...

ACIM as a Mind Training Tool

Image
A Course in Miracles (ACIM) can be seen as a comprehensive mind training program designed to shift our perception of reality from fear-based to love-based. By transforming our thoughts and beliefs, we can cultivate lasting happiness and peace. Here's how ACIM works as a mind training tool: Identifying Ego-Driven Thoughts: Recognizing limiting beliefs: ACIM helps us identify the ego-driven thoughts that limit our happiness and peace, such as fear, guilt, judgment, and resentment. Challenging negative thinking patterns: By recognizing these thoughts, we can begin to challenge and replace them with more positive and loving ones.     2.  Cultivating a Love-Based Perspective: Practicing forgiveness: Forgiveness is a central practice in ACIM. By forgiving ourselves and others, we release negative emotions and open our hearts to love. Shifting focus to the present moment: ACIM encourages us to live...

This blog isn't for everyone...

Image
If you're firmly grounded in your beliefs about the meaning of life, whether they stem from science, religion, or another source, this blog and A Course in Miracles (ACIM) may not resonate with you. Nothing2Forgive is for those who: Feel a sense of unease with the answers provided by traditional explanations. Grapple with unanswered questions about the nature of reality. Seek a deeper understanding and a path to inner peace. We, the majority of humanity perhaps, yearn for answers we can truly trust. But trust is not something we're born with; it's cultivated. My aim with this blog is to offer a glimpse into the profound simplicity of rediscovering the truth you already hold within. A Core Principle of ACIM: I am responsible for what I see. I choose the feelings I experience, and I decide upon the goal I would achieve. And everything that seems to happen to me I ask for, and receive as I have asked. ( ACIM, T-21.II.2:3-5 ) At its core, ACIM is a practical guide for ...

A Course in Miracles

Image
From the Preface: "As its title implies, the Course is arranged throughout as a teaching device. It consists of three books: a 669-page Text, a 488-page Workbook for Students, and a 92-page Manual for Teachers. The Workbook includes 365 lessons, one for each day of the year. Although Christian in statement, the Course deals with universal spiritual themes." For years I have tried to identify the most meaningful passages that effectively summarize its meaning. Those will be shared soon. After several readings, I remember where I was when the meaning came together for me. Building on the theme of the power of Perception, these lines are excerpted from my favorite passage: Lesson 132 - I Loose the World from All I Thought It Was What keeps the world in chains but your beliefs? And what can save the world except your Self? Belief is powerful indeed. The thoughts you hold are mighty, and illusions are as strong in their effects as is the truth. There is no world apart ...

Giving and Receiving: Two Sides of the Same Coin

Image
In the tapestry of human experience, giving and receiving are often seen as distinct actions. We give to others, expecting gratitude or reciprocation. We receive from others, feeling a sense of obligation or indebtedness. However, A Course in Miracles (ACIM) offers a profound perspective: giving and receiving are one and the same . The Illusion of Separation The belief in separation is at the root of many human problems. We perceive ourselves as isolated individuals, distinct from others and from the divine. This illusion of separation leads to fear, guilt, and resentment. When we give, we often do so with the expectation of something in return. When we receive, we may feel unworthy or obligated. The Unity of All Beings ACIM teaches that we are all interconnected, part of a unified whole. There is no true separation between ourselves and others. When we give, we are giving to ourselves. When we receive, we are receiving from ourselves. This may seem counterintuitive, but it is ...

Reconciling Science and Spirituality

Image
Reconciling Science and Spirituality: A Harmonious Perspective The age-old debate between science and spirituality often pits one against the other, leading to a false dichotomy. Many people believe that a scientific worldview negates the possibility of a higher power, while others contend that spiritual beliefs are incompatible with the empirical evidence provided by science. However, this polarized view is a misconception that stems from a limited understanding of both concepts. A Misconception of Reality One common misunderstanding is the belief that science and spirituality are mutually exclusive. Science, with its focus on the material world, and spirituality, with its emphasis on the metaphysical, are often seen as opposing forces. This dichotomy, however, is a false one. The Universal Definition of God The concept of God, as the "first cause of everything," transcends the limitations of both science and spirituality. It is a force that underlies all existence...

Non-Duality

Image
Non-dualism is a philosophical and spiritual concept that asserts the ultimate unity of all things. It suggests that the perceived divisions between self and other, subject and object, and mind and matter are illusory. In essence, non-dualism posits that reality is one indivisible whole, and the apparent diversity we experience is a product of our limited perception. This concept is central to many Eastern philosophies, including Advaita Vedanta, Buddhism, and Taoism. It has also influenced Western thought, particularly in mysticism and certain schools of psychology. Non-dual teachings often emphasize the importance of direct experience, meditation, and self-inquiry as paths to realizing this underlying unity. While non-dualism can be a challenging concept to grasp intellectually, many practitioners find it to be a profound and liberating perspective that can lead to greater peace, compassion, and a deeper understanding of existence.
